Highlighting Denver Breweries

By October 28, 2015 Culture

denverbreweriesStep aside Chicago, there’s a new brew authority in the house.

With over 3,699 brewery permits in the state of Colorado, we’ve hit hops heaven. Zooming out we have the “Denver Beer Triangle” between metro Denver, Boulder and of course Fort Collins, home to Coors Brewing Company, but how do you choose where to spend your frosted mug time? We wanted to make a brief hand-selected list to help narrow down your weekend beer lineup.

The Big Boys

Previously mentioning Coors Brewing Company’s home in Ft. Collins, the downtown Denver area is also stacked with barrels of big brew options. Great Divide Brewing Co. recently opened their Brighton Blvd doors in the heart of the RiNo Arts District, serving up their nationally recognized barrels. Just across the street, New Belgium Brewing Co. have announced their future barrel housing home in the much anticipated Source Hotel, an expansion of The Source local marketplace. Finally on the list of heavy hitters, Breckenridge Brewery is more than just a hometown favorite. Entering the Denver market during the 1990s, they have established their grandeur through consistent bottling quality and local brewpub activities focused on public engagement.

Don’t Underestimate the Underdogs

For those with a specific sour palate, The Crooked Stave is your calling. Specializing in sour ales made in the heart of RiNo at The Source Marketplace, this crew packs the sour punch you crave, plus an outstanding line of seasonal brews. Taking a step out of direct downtown, Baere Brewing Company, located near 3rd and Broadway has a unique selection of beers brewed on-site. Being a micro-brewhouse with a 2.5 barrel capacity, quality is key and never forgotten. Each product has it’s own brand and distinct experience, whether you’re an IPA-aficionado or enjoy a more simple pilsner, Baere has a selection to match. Jagged Mountain in Denver’s Lodo neighborhood puts a distinctive spin on your typical craft brewery. With zesty ingredients such as pineapple and coconut, this is definitely a spot we suggest getting a little adventurous with your selection.

We encourage you to make your own list of best breweries too! There’s an endless supply of that local liquid gold here in Denver, why not make it an ongoing journey to try them all?
