Wordpress plugins completely transformed the Wordpress development process. The right plugins can greatly reduce the time it takes to develop and maintain your site. The only problem? There are 54,600 Wordpress plugins currently available.

To save you some time, we put together a list of our favorite Wordpress plugins that we use on a daily basis here at Outspoke.

Yoast SEO

Yoast SEO has over 5 million active downloads and 24,000 five-star reviews. It’s the only WordPress plugin that can boast these kinds of numbers. As most people know, search engines are a major source of traffic for any website. Everybody and their mother, literally, will first “google” a given topic to begin their research on it. That’s why a plugin like Yoast SEO is so powerful and necessary.

“This awesome plugin will be your guide to create your best content and improve your search engine ranking. It does a great job of blending useful content with SEO friendly features. The goal is to maintain a sustainable SEO ranking and not have it be obvious within your content that you want to rank well. It even lets you know how your content ranks with an easy-to-understand, traffic light style graphic that tells you when you're smooth sailing green or in the red. Just enter your focus keyphrase and let Yoast take care of the rest.” - Rosie Walsh (Brand & Community Manager at Rare Tempo)

Another WordPress titan, WooCommerce has over 4 million downloads and 2,700 five-star reviews. It is one of the best WordPress plugins for selling products on your website. When we want to create an online store, WooCommerce is our go-to plugin with all of the necessary features. It is likely that you will need to sell something on your website and we recommend using WooCommerce.

From payment to shipping options, WooCommerce is extremely versatile. Your customers are able to pay with common options like credit cards, cash on delivery, and PayPal. Additional features include free shipping, local pickups, and flat rates. Selling physical products or even less tangible options like software and service plans is a breeze.

“Woocommerce managed to achieve the holy grail when it comes to software: professional, but simple. If you aren’t technically savvy, Woocommerce is easy enough to use that you can confidently set up and deploy an eCommerce store, complete with payment, shipping, etc. If you are technically savvy and are looking to set up a more custom solution, Woocommerce has nearly unlimited options.” - Nick Hinckley (Creative Director at Outspoke)

Duplicate Post

Not every WordPress plugin has to be fancy and Duplicate Post is anything but. That hasn’t stopped over 2 million people from downloading it. This plugin allows users to clone posts of any type, or copy them to new drafts for further editing. If you would like a WordPress plugin that “just works”, look no further.

“Duplicate post is one of my all time favorite plugins. Essentially you can duplicate an entire page or post type will all settings intact from an existing page. It makes consistency easy and has helped speed up my website build process.” - Kate Jacobson (Support Specialist at Outspoke)

WP Rocket

WP Rocket is our favorite WordPress caching plugin on the market. You can instantly improve your WordPress website speed and performance, with no technical skills required. It will automatically turn on recommended WordPress caching settings like gzip compression, page cache, and cache pre-loading. Optional features like lazy loading images, CDN support, DNS pre-fetching, minification, and more will help to improve your page load times.

This is by far the easiest and most beginner-friendly caching plugin. It is “paid only”, so you will have to invest some money into this particular plugin.

Gravity Forms is one of the most popular form plugins, especially with developers. It includes both deep functionality and customizability - if you want a specific form, there's probably a way that Gravity Forms can make it happen.
